Highland Swim Team is a composite performance swimming team representing swimmers from all over the Scottish Highlands.

We are based at the Leisure Centre in Inverness but our swimmers also train with their respective clubs all over the Highlands.

Clubs that are represented on the team include Grantown, Inverness, Nairn, Tain, Wick and Lochaber.

The team has developed and grown over the years and now consists of three squads.

The National Squad is made up of the fastest and most committed swimmers in the Highlands. Squad members are expected to represent the team at regional, national and international events. Our swimmers regularly compete in Scottish and British National meets and also in the British Inter counties and Scottish and British Schools meets. We have also competed in European Open Water competitions.
The Junior A and Skills squads are selected from local Highland clubs as well. These swimmers are committed and have the potential to progress to the national squad. They regularly represent their clubs at local and regional meets and train together in Inverness on a regular basis.

All squads are overseen by volunteer coaches from our feeder clubs who work with our lead Performance Development Coach on bespoke training strategies according to the squad and individual swimmer needs. Criteria for entry into squads are set by the coaches. Our coaching program is overseen and assisted by Scottish Swimming and Sport Scotland. Our strategic partners include High Life Highland.

Due to the geography of the Highlands, our team members are able to train in their local pools under the PDC’s guidance if they live outwith the Inverness area. Regular training weekends are held for all squads in Inverness. All squad members have to meet minimum requirements for training to keep their places on the squad.

The swim team is overseen by a management committee of club representatives that meets on a regular basis to manage the team. We rely on parents to support the committee and if you wish to get involved please contact us.
